Today Georgian people, some of them of the first generation, others of the second and even third generation, protested for the fourth time since last saturday against the Russian aggression in their country.
Despite the fact that many Russians are living in Nice, and also South-Ossetians, none of them comes to the Place Massena to let their sides of the story being heard.
"You are next". "Stop Russia." I think the Georgians have every reason to believe that the Russians won't stop at Georgia once they experience that they can get away with this. Many people from Ukrain, Bellarus, Latvia, Lithuania and other former Soviet states live here in Nice, peacefully and in harmony with Russians, and I expect it will stay that way, but most of these people have friends and relations living in their homelands, and the Russian aggression in Georgia makes them fearful.

I used to live here in Nice with my girl friend, a Dutch baroness, off and on, from 1976 to 1984. This photo was taken in 1986. Visiting regularly throughout the years, I moved back to Nice in 2007.

Prince Valerian Obolensky (1951) is living in Amsterdam, Paris, and Nice. He is the author of the book Russians in Exile - The History Of A Diaspora. After the cold war Prince Valerian Obolensky was invited by Anatoli Sobchak, mayor of St. Petersburg and Russian candidate of presidency, to come to his beautiful city. Sobchak offered the Prince, on behalf of the Russian Republic, his most sincere excuses for everything the Russian nation had done to the Russian nobility since 1917.
Recently Prince Valerian Obolensky started a new project: Russian Aristocracy Online - a genealogy website of the Russian aristocracy.
